About the role

We are seeking a Strategic Communications Specialist to execute Geotab's communications strategy. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing communication initiatives, managing media reporting programs, coordinating campaigns, and building relationships with journalists and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute communication initiatives to build the company's reputation and advance business objectives.
  • Develop and implement content creation and storytelling strategy to support Geotab's media and thought leadership goals.
  • Manage the Geotab reporting program, including media metrics, wire distribution, insights, and dashboards using tools like CISION, Meltwater, Google Analytics, and AI-driven solutions.
  • Coordinate and own the strategy and logistics of campaigns, announcements, media briefings, press interactions, and presence at strategic industry events.
  • Build and manage relationships with journalists and external stakeholders to build reputation and create ongoing opportunities to tell Geotab's business story.
  • Maintain an understanding of evolving media trends, tools, and technologies, and recommend improvements to elevate communications practices and impact.
  • Conduct ongoing competitive analysis and benchmarking to inform strategic communications and social media strategy.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in corporate communications, technology communications, or agency experience.
  • Proven experience in media relations, including building and managing networks of journalists, trade reporters, and social media influencers, with a focus on North America.
  • Hands-on experience with media measurement and monitoring tools such as CISION, Meltwater, Google Analytics, and AI-driven solutions.
  • Exceptional writing skills with the ability to create compelling content across multiple formats including media releases, social media, and presentations.
  • Experience with strategic planning, annual plan development, and reporting on media and social media performance metrics.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field; a postgraduate diploma in Communications or PR is considered a strong asset.
