Strategic Initiatives Project Lead

A1 Garage Door Service · Phoenix, AZ · 2 wk ago
Hybrid$85k–$100k/yrContract

About the Role

A1 Garage Door Service is one of the fastest-growing home services companies in the country. The PMO team ensures growth doesn’t outrun execution. This hands-on role on a small team works on the company’s highest-visibility initiatives, offering deep business exposure. The Growth Initiatives Project Lead drives A1’s most impactful, cross-functional projects, including acquisition integrations, process improvements, and tool rollouts like Asana. The role requires ownership from within the work—staying in the details, absorbing workload, and delivering outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Support Acquisition Integrations (top priority when live):
    • Maintain integration plans and timelines in Asana from diligence through close and onboarding, tracking tasks across Ops, HR/Payroll, IT, Marketing, Dispatch, and Finance.
    • Adapt processes for deals of all sizes, from large multi-technician companies to phone-number-only buys.
    • Coordinate daily with Regional VPs, Area Managers, HR, IT, Marketing, and Finance to manage dependencies like employee onboarding, training, phone porting, and rebranding.
    • Travel to acquired markets for onsite data collection, diligence, and town halls.
    • Lead in-person town halls post-close, delivering clear, compassionate communication to staff about role changes.
    • Review, validate, and clean CRM data after mergers to preserve customer history in ServiceTitan.
    • Track integration status, flag risks early, and keep trackers updated.
    • Step into ad-hoc tasks or unfamiliar systems as needed to unblock integrations.
    • Update playbooks and checklists to improve consistency and speed for future integrations.
  • Drive Assigned Growth Initiatives:
    • Run day-to-day execution of horizontal initiatives, tracking tasks and chasing owners across Operations, Marketing, Finance, HR, IT, and Growth.
    • Escalate stalled work to the Sr. Director, PMO.
  • Support the Asana Rollout:
    • Build projects from templates, maintain dashboards/reporting, and train teams as adoption expands.
  • Document and Improve Processes:
    • Map current workflows and redesign gaps, especially where processes must precede tool implementation.
  • Keep Status Current:
    • Run operating mechanisms, produce meeting notes, status updates, and trackers to align the PMO and initiative owners.
  • Support the CEO’s Idea Funnel:
    • Process intake, apply ICE scoring, and assemble weekly digests for review.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in project coordination, project management, business operations, or similar cross-functional support roles.
  • Hands-on Asana proficiency (building projects/tasks from templates; willingness to learn custom fields and reporting).
  • Exposure to process mapping/improvement; interest in designing processes before tool implementation.
  • Strong organizational skills to juggle concurrent workstreams and deadlines without dropping details.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and speed, structuring fast-moving, PE-backed environments without slowing momentum.
  • Clear written/verbal communication for diverse audiences, from frontline teams to senior leadership.
  • Exposure to M&A integration or multi-site/multi-market operations is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience strongly considered.

Key Attributes for Success

  • Horizontal Contributor: Works across functions and initiatives, building relationships to keep work moving.
  • Priority Shifter: Drops into live integrations as the top priority while maintaining other threads.
  • Systems-Minded: Thinks in process and structure first, tools second.
  • Calm Under Pressure: Manages critical timelines and high-visibility work with composure.
  • Hands-On Owner: Takes personal ownership of outcomes, stays in details until finished, and absorbs workload to support teams.

Why This Role

  • Direct Line to Company KPIs: Work supports metrics prioritized by the executive team and ownership group.
  • Breadth of Exposure: Spans every business function, building operational fluency quickly.
  • Real Responsibility: Directly contributes to high-stakes initiatives, including live acquisition integrations, from day one.
  • Defined Growth Path: Structured as a step toward Growth Initiatives Leader and broader PMO roles.

Additional Information

  • Travel: Periodic travel to acquired/existing markets, concentrated around integration milestones (e.g., close, town halls).
  • Physical Requirements: Primarily office-based, with occasional fieldwork at branch/jobsite locations.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401K retirement plan.
  • Paid Time Off.
  • Weekly pay.
  • Internal promotion opportunities.
  • Company swag.

Pay

Compensation range: $85,000 – $100,000.
