About the Role
This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday-Friday in a typical office environment at 4101 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229. You will work an 8-hour shift scheduled during normal business hours of 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with occasional overtime as needed. Travel between buildings may be required.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for renewal and management of existing accounts, including maintaining strong service relationships with clients and agents.
- Research and compile presentations and sales materials as needed.
- Coordinate client and agent input into the renewal process, including obtaining client signoff on administrative service agreements.
- Handle renewal reporting and manage related communications.
- Gather and analyze data from clients and/or agents to compile, approve, and deliver marketing packages.
- Provide ongoing account management and drive client satisfaction, retention, and expansion opportunities.
- Develop new account sales, working with marketing to execute strategies for new business in assigned territory/relationship network.
- Compile, approve, and deliver presentations and proposal packages for new groups, including obtaining client signoff on administrative service agreements.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a job-related field. Equivalency: 4 years of job-related work experience or an Associate’s degree with 2 years of job-related work experience.
- Work Experience: 7 years in healthcare insurance/program management, customer service, and/or technology-related industry, with at least 2 of those years in a direct sales and marketing role in one or more of the following areas:
- Health plans, Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans, provider networks, TPAs, or employee benefits organizations.
- Self-funded, fully insured, Medicare, Medicaid, or government-sponsored healthcare programs.
- Multi-state employer groups, consultants, and strategic partners.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of sales principles and techniques.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and make sound decisions.
- Strong judgment, customer service, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in basic business math.
- Software and Tools: Microsoft Office.
- Licenses and Certificates: Department of Insurance licensure must be obtained within 60 days of hire in the state of employment.
Travel Requirements
- Ability to travel up to 20% as needed to support client meetings, industry conferences, and partner engagements.
- Regular travel to client locations, consultant offices, and partner Blue Plan organizations is required.
- Occasional overnight travel may be necessary based on business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with health plans, Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans, provider networks, TPAs, or employee benefits organizations.
- Knowledge of self-funded, fully insured, Medicare, Medicaid, or government-sponsored healthcare programs.
- Experience supporting multi-state employer groups, consultants, and strategic partners.
