Strategic Account Executive
About the role
Laine is building its U.S. commercial hub in Austin, and this role sits at the center of that expansion. Candidates based in, or willing to relocate to, Austin, TX are strongly preferred. Exceptional candidates elsewhere in the United States will be considered and should be comfortable working across U.S. time zones as needed. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
Laine is on a mission to make expert-quality legal work accessible to every law firm and legal team. Laine is legal software built by attorneys — decades of legal methodology, built into the product — so lawyers produce partner-level drafting, review, and analysis without changing the way they work. Legal AI will be one of the defining categories of this decade, and the companies that win it are being decided right now. Laine launched in Switzerland in 2026 and is now building its U.S. business from Austin. You would join the commercial team at the heart of that expansion — early enough that your work shapes how Laine grows, who it reaches, and how it wins.
As Strategic Account Executive at Laine, you will own the most important pursuits in the U.S. market: a named set of strategic target accounts, from sophisticated firms to the legal departments of major corporations. You will run a strategic, value-driven sales process across general counsel, managing partners, innovation leaders, and the other stakeholders who matter — planning the account, opening the doors, orchestrating the evaluation, and bringing the deal home — and you will partner cross-functionally with product, legal, and marketing so that every prospect's experience of Laine is exceptional. Your ability to earn trust at the most senior levels of the legal profession will directly shape Laine's position in the U.S. market.
Responsibilities
- Own a named list of strategic target accounts and build a deliberate account plan for each: entry points, stakeholder map, and close strategy
- Prospect directly into general counsels, managing partners, and legal operations leaders, and multi-thread each account across the stakeholders who matter
- Run a strategic, value-driven sales process end to end — tailored demonstrations, pilots with defined success criteria, security reviews, and negotiation
- Partner cross-functionally across product, legal, marketing, and leadership to deliver an exceptional experience at every step of the evaluation and beyond
- Land strategically and grow deliberately, expanding adoption across practice groups, departments, and jurisdictions after the initial win
- Maintain rigorous deal discipline: stakeholder-by-stakeholder qualification, accurate forecasting, and clean CRM hygiene on every opportunity
- Document what works, building the strategic-accounts playbook that the team behind you will run
Requirements
- Proven track record of closing complex B2B software deals — deal sizes will vary, and you know how to win the fast, focused sale as well as the larger strategic pursuit
- Command of consultative, value-based selling and a structured qualification methodology you can articulate and defend deal by deal
- Executive presence: you are credible with a general counsel, a managing partner, and a CFO in the same meeting, and you can convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Momentum: you keep a value-driven process moving, create urgency without pressure, and bring every opportunity to a clear decision
- Fluency in the economics of professional services — margin, cost of delivery, capacity — and comfort building a business case with the most senior stakeholders
- AI obsession and fluency: you use AI every day as a force multiplier — to research, prepare, write, and move faster — and you sell it with the credibility of someone who lives it
- Team player who orchestrates internal resources — legal engineering, product, leadership — to win as a unit
- Excited to help define the strategic-accounts motion at an early stage rather than inherit one
- Experience selling into the legal industry a plus but not required
If your experience doesn't precisely match this description but you believe you would excel in the role, we encourage you to apply.
How We Work
- Seek the uncomfortable — growth lives outside the comfort zone, and we go there on purpose
- Challenge and be challenged — the best idea wins, no matter whose it is
- Accountability with vulnerability — own the outcome, and be honest about what you don't know
- Play for each other — we win as a team or not at all
- Excellence in everything — quality is the brand, down to the smallest detail
Compensation
The annualized on-target earnings (OTE) range for this role is $200,000–$300,000, with a balanced base/commission mix. The final offer will be based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
