Strateg Network Infrastructure
While this is a remote position, the successful candidate must reside within 50 miles of a FedEx Freight location within the continental US.
About the role
Responsible for architecting, implementing, and optimizing network infrastructure to support network capabilities, including cloud connectivity and data center interconnects, ensuring scalability, security, and performance across all environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of network strategy, including core, edge, and cloud connectivity.
- Develop and maintain long-term architectural vision, investment planning, and innovation roadmap for network modernization aligned with business growth and digital transformation goals.
- Lead the transformation from legacy MPLS to a modern, software-defined, cloud-optimized network fabric.
- Translate business growth forecasts and digital transformation goals into scalable network capacity and performance plans.
- Evaluate and recommend strategic vendor partnerships to support evolving network needs, including hyperscale interconnects and edge compute providers.
- Oversee the network risk register and lead mitigation strategies for single points of failure, latency bottlenecks, and vendor lock-in, along with compliance with regulatory and industry standards pertaining to network infrastructure.
- Counsel the VP of Infrastructure & Operations on network health, investment ROI, and strategic risks quarterly.
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure network infrastructure supports evolving application and analytics.
- Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, data science or a related field.
- Seven (7) years of experience in data engineering, analytics or data platform architecture.
- Strong understanding of network security principles and compliance frameworks.
- Experience leading network separation or M&A-related infrastructure transitions is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, vendor management, and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Proven expertise in SD-WAN, DIA, MPLS, cloud networking (Azure preferred), and data center interconnects.
- Some travel required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience designing, operating, and maintaining SD-WAN, Edge and Data Center switches, wireless infrastructure, and Firewalls.
- Proven experience in automation and scripting.
- Strong analysis skills and process management.
- Ability to design and administer relevant monitoring systems with applicable reporting.

Pay
Pay Range: $103,880.00 - $181,790.00 per year.
Colorado Pay Ranges: Colorado Springs, Grand Junction $103,880 - $181,790; Henderson, Mead $103,880 - $181,790; Gypsum $103,880 - $181,790.
Illinois Pay Ranges: Effingham, Kankakee, Lincoln, Quincy, Rockford, Aurora $103,880 - $181,790; Bolingbrook, Chicago Heights, Des Plaines, Elmhurst, Forest View, Joliet, Schaumburg, Summit-Argo, Zion $103,880 - $181,790.
New York Pay Ranges: Plattsburgh, Buffalo, Watertown, North Chili, East Syracuse, Nichols $103,880 - $181,790; Bethpage, Montgomery, West Babylon $103,880 - $181,790.
New Jersey Pay Ranges: $103,880.00 - $142,835.00 per year.
