GameStop Store Managers oversee all aspects of store operations, driving performance through leadership, guest service, and the company’s buy-sell-trade model. This role develops a sales-focused culture, ensures operational excellence, and supervises a retail team to meet or exceed sales and profit goals.

Responsibilities

  • Model and deliver best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly, address questions or concerns courteously, assist with gaming needs, and prioritize guest interactions over tasks.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing store environment to enhance the shopping experience and drive repeat business.
  • Process guest purchases, returns, and transactions accurately using the Point-of-Sale (POS) system, including handling cash and providing receipts.
  • Respond to guest inquiries in person or by phone with professionalism and courtesy, using the company’s phone greeting.
  • Promote GameStop’s guest benefits, including the new title reservations program, trade-in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, and retain high-performing associates, ensuring they complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training before working shifts independently.
  • Communicate regularly with store associates and the District Manager to implement company initiatives and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Set guest service expectations, train associates on job responsibilities, policies, and procedures, and delegate tasks to Sales Associates, Retail Keyholders, and Assistant Store Managers.
  • Schedule store associates according to company guidelines, ensuring adequate coverage for guest service and compliance with break and meal requirements.
  • Supervise staffing levels to maintain optimal guest service and provide timely feedback and recognition to associates regarding performance.
  • Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify accurate payment for all hours worked.
  • Ensure all store areas, including restrooms, are clean, organized, and merchandised according to company guidelines, and that fixtures and equipment are functional.
  • Fulfill and ship Omni-Channel orders daily and perform inventory counts, restocking merchandise to ensure products are represented, organized, and alphabetized on the sales floor.
  • Protect company assets through effective inventory control, loss prevention practices, and adherence to safety protocols, including scam awareness and bank deposit procedures.
  • Lead the store team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals, completing all required administrative and operational tasks to support goal achievement.
  • Reconcile daily business transactions, complete closeout paperwork, and ensure accurate bank deposits and cash handling.
  • Verify shipments for discrepancies, conduct merchandise counts, and report any issues to the District Manager.
  • Process defectives, recalls, and stock pulls accurately, ensuring proper labeling and packing lists.
  • Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety, address hazardous situations promptly, and report injuries according to company guidelines.
  • Keep store records and files organized, ensuring manuals are up to date.
  • For stores on military bases, form professional partnerships with military personnel, including the Supply Base Leader.
  • Adhere to all GameStop policies and procedures, including those outlined in the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.

Requirements

  • Proof of identity and eligibility to work legally in the United States.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or a related field preferred.
  • At least 1 year of retail management experience required; 3+ years of retail sales, guest service, or leadership experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge is a plus.

Skills

  • Outgoing and welcoming personality with strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to provide individualized assistance to guests and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in operating Point-of-Sale (POS) systems and basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, currency).
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to complete paperwork accurately and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership abilities, including setting expectations, delegating tasks, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Ability to adapt to stressful situations, solve problems creatively, and manage pressure without impacting guest interactions.
  • Reliability, trustworthiness, and good judgment in decision-making.
  • Physical ability to stand and move throughout the store for up to 12 hours per day, bend, stoop, crouch, lift up to 30 lbs., and perform other fine and gross motor tasks.
  • For positions on military bases, a working understanding of military ranks and insignia is required.

Schedule

  • 40 hours per week, with flexibility to work extended hours, nights, weekends, some holidays, and occasional overtime as needed.

Pay

$17.41 - $25.41 per hour.
