About the role

The Store Manager oversees all aspects of store operations, focusing on service and merchandising to drive business results through effective coaching of the store team. Key areas include customer service, sales and profit growth, expense control, promotional and merchandising execution, and team development. This role requires strong communication, efficiency, and a drive for results.

Responsibilities

• Leads and supports customer service in-store and online, ensuring employees greet customers enthusiastically and maintain a positive attitude.
• Proactively engages with customers, reads cues, and responds appropriately to enhance their shopping experience.
• Educates customers on promotions and merchandise to support buying decisions and suggests complementary items to increase sales.
• Fosters a caring, fun, and engaging work environment for the team while delivering a great shopping experience for customers.
• Upholds the company’s branding by treating customers and co-workers respectfully and professionally.
• Drives profitable sales, protects company assets, and adheres to the Company Handbook.
• Monitors performance targets, analyzes business trends, and identifies solutions to achieve goals.
• Networks and recruits within the market to maintain appropriate staffing levels and makes sound hiring decisions.
• Builds high-performing teams aligned with company goals, initiatives, and priorities.
• Holds team members accountable for individual and team performance while modeling professionalism and respect.
• Communicates strategies, initiatives, and business opportunities clearly to build team commitment.
• Identifies and acts on store opportunities consistent with company strategies.
• Ensures timely implementation of changes to drive results.
• Travels occasionally to other store locations and the Sales Support Center for meetings.
• Demonstrates commitment to Kirkland’s values.
• Performs other duties as necessary.

Requirements

• College degree preferred or 1-3 years of management experience in a retail environment.
• Energetic, results-oriented, and competitive with a drive to succeed.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to handle and transport company funds to designated bank locations securely, without non-Kirkland’s employees present.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to ascend/descend a ladder to retrieve and stock products or hang overhead banners.
• Frequent movement around the store to assist customers and stock merchandise.
• Ability to frequently communicate with customers in person, electronically, and by phone.
• Ability to frequently move merchandise weighing 50 pounds or more between the stock room and sales floor.
• Ability to operate Point of Sale systems, registers, and handheld devices efficiently and accurately.
