Store Manager in Training

Pay range: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour. The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage for the job location. Additional compensation may include annual or quarterly performance bonuses and premiums based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

About the role

Assist the store manager in sales, store appearance, and overall operations while receiving hands-on training to prepare for a future management position. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Supervise professional and retail operations of the store, including:
  • Delivery and installer service specialists (professional)
  • Parts and merchandising specialists (retail)
• Oversee work performed by all assigned team members.
• Collaborate with district and store managers in recruiting, testing, hiring, evaluating, promoting, disciplining, and discharging team members.
• Communicate key information from weekly and monthly manager meetings to all team members.
• Train new team members and conduct performance evaluations, including recommending pay increases.
• Assist in the hiring process by completing recruiting tasks, scheduling interviews, evaluating candidates, and collaborating with management.
• Support the store manager and assistant management team in ensuring safety compliance and training for all team members.
• Monitor and reinforce safety expectations.
• Make sales calls with or without the store manager; may be assigned a weekly customer call schedule.
• Maintain the delivery fleet and records for each vehicle.
• Ensure the store and HUB store remain neat, clean, and organized at all times.
• Learn and utilize electronic scheduling, clocking, and payroll systems.
• Monitor key components of gross profit, including:
  • Professional customer returns for core and warranty abuse
  • Competitive price matches and price overrides
  • Individual team member productivity and KPI dashboard (reviewed daily)
• Review the monthly P&L statement with the store manager and discuss areas of opportunity.

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
• Completion of Assistant Manager Certification, Sales Specialist Training, and Manager Development Program
• Ability to read and match numerical/alpha characters quickly and accurately
• Knowledge of automotive parts, equipment, and systems

Preferred Qualifications

• O’Reilly store and/or distribution center experience
• Completed O’Reilly management training program
• Advanced computer skills
• ASE Certification
• Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish highly desired)
