Responsibilities

  • General Operating Requirements:
    • Lead all Company Best Practices and maximize productivity by minimizing steps and touches.
    • Analyze Store reports to evaluate controllable expenses and overall performance; address variances with action plans.
    • Ensure proper scheduling of Associates to meet business objectives.
    • Accept special assignments as directed by Leadership.
    • Oversee payroll administration, including punch edits, scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission, and reporting.
  • Organizational Development:
    • Recruit, hire, train, and develop Assistant Managers, Area Supervisors, and Associates.
    • Reduce Store turnover through selection, training, and motivation, utilizing retention tools like incentive programs and recognition opportunities.
    • Ensure timely completion of all required training courses.
    • Address personnel and performance issues, including coaching, discipline, and termination as needed.
    • Ensure compliance with Ross personnel policies, State, Local, and Federal regulations.
    • Manage Associate Relations issues in consultation with the District Manager.
  • Expense Control:
    • Lead all expenditures to stay within budget, focusing on payroll hours as the primary controllable expense.
    • Adjust staffing to align with current business trends.
  • Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment:
    • Ensure adherence to Company safety policies for Associates and Customers.
    • Train Associates on emergency operating procedures.
  • Customer Service:
    • Model courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism in all interactions.
    • Recognize Associates using Company programs and supervise Customer service initiatives.
    • Train and coach Associates to provide efficient service at registers, Customer Service desk, fitting rooms, and sales floor.
  • Personal and Store Brand:
    • Model and reinforce professional appearance per Company Dress Code.
    • Support and represent the Company brand at all times.
    • Maintain a clean, neat, and easy-to-shop environment with high housekeeping standards.
  • Merchandise Processing and In-Store Marketing:
    • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet Company standards.
    • Organize merchandise presentation according to Company guidelines.
    • Manage timely processing of merchandise to the sales floor.
  • Loss Prevention:
    • Train Associates on Loss Prevention programs to achieve Store shortage goals.
    • Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions as a Ross Leadership representative.
    • Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card data, and merchandise.
    • Comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintain a strong Customer service presence on the sales floor.
    • Lead the annual inventory process, including preparation and execution of guidelines.
    • Monitor mark-out-of-stock policy administration.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of Store management experience in a retail environment.
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, motivate, and communicate positively with Associates at all levels.
  • Experience training, coaching, and developing Associates.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills to achieve goals and execute tasks.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Ability to exercise considerable independent judgement and discretion.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
  • Capable of standing, walking, and moving around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision of Assistant Store Manager, Area Supervisors, and all Retail Associates.
