Store Manager

About the role

As a Store Team Leader at Pet Supplies Plus, you’re passionate about people and their pets. You’ll provide exceptional, neighborly service while leading your store team by example—creating a fun, positive environment and building a reputation for knowledgeable, trustworthy, and pet-centric service in your neighborhood.

Responsibilities

• Lead your store team by example, including being the first on the floor to engage with neighbors and their pets.
• Recognize community members (e.g., local cat shelter directors) and volunteer to host adoption events.
• Analyze store sales results and develop plans to maximize sales, neighbor engagement, and productivity.
• Inspire your team to achieve goals while fostering a playful and welcoming store atmosphere.
• Adhere to operational policies and procedures (animal care, safety, cleanliness, and security) to ensure exceptional service.
• Drive strong store audit and neighbor engagement scores to promote the brand.
• Use broad business knowledge to impact store results, including sales (grooming/services where applicable), loyalty program membership, and neighbor engagement, while operating within budget.
• Create weekly work schedules to maximize productivity and engagement.
• Promote team member engagement and morale by understanding individual motivation, recognizing performance, and supporting career growth.
• Maintain a fully staffed team by leading recruiting and onboarding for all store levels.
• Cultivate a learning culture through exceptional onboarding, development, coaching, and feedback.
• Connect with community organizations to partner on events and marketing opportunities.
• Operate store equipment (e.g., forklift), climb ladders, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

• 2+ years’ experience leading retail teams.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; high school diploma/GED required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible schedules and reliable transportation.
• Must pass a drug screening and be 18 years or older.
