About the role
Store Managers are responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer service is applied. They model AbleLight's mission, vision, and values while effectively problem-solving, making informed decisions, managing the workforce, and achieving maximum results.
Responsibilities
- Recruits, hires, and/or orients the most qualified applicants and volunteers to meet the store's needs.
- Trains, coaches, and manages all associates in execution of daily responsibilities to maximize store sales and profits.
- Oversees the design and preparation of merchandise placement and displays.
- Implements and maintains operating procedures accurately to attain maximum productivity and quality.
- Reviews operational reports and records to ensure adherence to AbleLight's policies and procedures; monitors store profitability and manages budgets.
- Reviews paperwork pertaining to receiving, transfers to ensure accuracy of inventory.
- Ensures proper channels of communication exist between the store and Corporate office.
- Oversees compliance of Store Associates and volunteers with established policies and procedures, such as safe keeping of Company funds and property, personnel practices, security, sales and record keeping procedures, and overall production and maintenance of the facility.
- Solves employees, volunteer, donor, and customer issues that affect the store's service, efficiency, and productivity; seeks appropriate guidance and resources as needed.
- Ensures adequate security exists and that physical facilities comply with federal, state, and local safety codes and ordinances.
- Promotes vocational opportunities in retail for the people we support.
- Partners with regional management to identify new opportunities.
Requirements
- Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Minimum of 2 years retail management experience, including 1 year of leadership experience.
- Must be proficient with MS Office Software.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and a good driving record as defined by AbleLight.
- Ability to oversee all employees and volunteers effectively prioritizing multiple projects.
- Effective use of people management, listening, and problem-solving skills.
- Leading the team vs immersing into the day-to-day workload losing sight of the big picture.
- Ability to assist the team in setting meaningful goals and identifying specific behaviors/steps for meeting them.
- Ability to hold the team accountable around meeting performance goals.
- Ability to work irregular hours as needed.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position. Lift a minimum of 40 pounds on a repeated basis. Stand for up to 8 hours at a time. Assemble and move racks and shelves for extended periods of time. Carry items up and down stairs as needed.
