About the role
The Store Manager oversees and is responsible for the store's sales efforts in each department and supervises the store's overall operation to ensure efficiency and profitability. They enforce, convey, and uphold the organization's policies, goals, and standards to meet sales objectives. The Store Manager consistently communicates with the District Sales Manager and the Store Support Center to drive initiatives and business growth, while representing the company's brand through appearance, attitude, and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Drive store sales and meet sales goals, focusing on company growth.
- Manage and control company assets, including inventory and expenses, to ensure profitability.
- Direct and oversee all sales efforts in the store.
- Train and mentor store associates in sales strategies and skills.
- Monitor sales statistics, inventory, and expenses to maintain store profitability.
- Consult and collaborate with the District Sales Manager on policies, goals, and procedures.
- Ensure all departmental responsibilities and standards are met.
- Mentor and cultivate a team of Sales Associates, Assistant Managers, and Managers in Training.
- Handle personnel recruiting, hiring, training, discipline, and evaluation.
- Manage store payroll and scheduling to meet labor goals.
- Maintain store security and partner with Asset Protection to prevent theft and reduce shrink.
- Communicate inventory movement and strategies to the District Sales Manager.
- Follow through on marketing and advertising plans, staying aware of customer trends and community events.
- Provide extraordinary customer service, assisting customers during peak periods.
- Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring accuracy of internal control procedures and reporting potential fraud risks.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manage subordinate supervisors and non-management employees, including Sales Associates, Hub Drivers, Assistant Managers, and Managers in Training.
- Oversee the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the store team.
- Carry out supervisory duties in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining, and resolving problems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
- Experience managing and cultivating a sales team.
- 3-5 years of customer service experience.
- 3+ years of management experience.
