Job Purpose

The Senior Associate is responsible for the proper and efficient operation of their shift, within company policy, to ensure the shift contributes to the increased profitability of the store and to assist the manager in management functions. A Senior Associate must be willing to accept a promotion and assume the responsibilities of a store manager upon completion of training programs and as an opening is available. (The option to relocate when there is an opening is negotiable.)

Responsibilities

  • General Management:
    • Give all customers prompt and courteous service, including using the gasoline intercom to greet customers and adhering to Best In Class standards.
    • Observe shift operating hours as assigned by the Store Manager, including helping to fill shifts.
    • Work the store manager's days off as well as at least two (2) evening shifts per week.
    • Perform specific tasks as assigned by the Store Manager.
    • Effectively communicate with store associates and management.
    • Follow all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances pertaining to the operation of the store.
    • Provide a role model of conduct for other associates in the store.
    • Ensure the Store Manager is made aware of all sales, cash, or operating discrepancies.
    • Ensure all associates are in proper uniform and providing prompt, courteous customer service.
  • Bookkeeping:
    • Complete a shift change report at the beginning and end of the shift according to company policy.
    • Properly record all hours worked by clocking in/out on the computer at the store.
    • Ring all sales as discussed in the Policy Manual and Basic Training Manual.
    • Accurately record all over rings and refunds.
    • Complete daily paperwork and make store deposits as directed by the Store Manager.
  • Human Resources:
    • Treat all associates with dignity and respect and use proper personnel management techniques.
    • Advise the Store Manager of any personnel situations or policy violations having an adverse effect on store operating performance.
  • Security:
    • Ensure all associate shift procedures are followed.
    • Ensure a safe shopping and working environment.
    • Ensure cash and merchandise in the store are handled securely according to company policy.
    • Ensure vendor check-in procedures are followed per company policy.
  • Merchandising:
    • Keep coolers, drink boxes, store shelves, and displays fully stocked and fronted at all times.
    • Properly clean and maintain equipment and ready high-margin products such as coffee, fountain drinks, etc., as directed by the Store Manager.
    • Use correct pricing as listed on the DSD or grocery book for all merchandise.
  • Maintenance:
    • Ensure store appearance reflects company expectations and standards.
    • Keep floors clean, waxed, and buffed to a high gloss shine.
    • Keep store windows and all glass clean.
    • Sweep the parking lot daily, keep it clean and in good repair.
    • Ensure restrooms are clean and in good working order.
    • Report any maintenance problems that cannot be corrected immediately without assistance to the Store Manager.
    • Ensure all food service areas are kept clean and follow all sanitation procedures.
  • Safety:
    • Ensure lifting procedures are followed per company policy.
    • Ensure ladders are properly used.
    • Ensure wet floor signs are used per company policy.
    • Report accidents promptly to the store manager and corporate office.
  • Huck’s Bucks Loyalty App:
    • Actively promote the Huck’s Bucks Loyalty app to customers.
    • Communicate the benefits of signing up and using the app.
    • Monitor transactions for potential misuse of points or discounts.
    • Assist customers in signing up and using the app for discounts and redemption.
