Essential Duties
- Directs the activities of 2 or more full-time employees.
- Recruits, hires, and trains employees, ensuring excellent customer service.
- Maintains a clean, well-stocked, and organized store based on Company standards.
- Schedules employees within Company guidelines and to meet business needs.
- Hires, trains, counsels, mentors, motivates, and separates employees.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with suppliers and the community.
- Trains employees on customer service, store image, and marketing execution.
- Trains employees on safety procedures and promotes safety awareness.
- Mentors and trains employees on cash awareness and expectations.
- Ensures employees complete required training in a timely manner.
- Communicates with employees regularly and provides timely communication.
- Evaluates and develops action plans to address store needs.
- Organizes and maintains store files and manuals.
- Supervises employees to ensure accurate and timely completion of required reports.
- Supervises employees to ensure correct stocking, display, and pricing of merchandise.
- Ensures required employment-related posters and signs are accessible.
- Analyzes daily sales and expenses, taking appropriate action to maximize sales and net profits.
- Budgets and forecasts P&L lines and manages merchandise margins.
- Safeguards and accounts for all money received and disbursed.
- Notifies Market Manager of any discrepancies in sales, cash, inventory, or operations.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent with 1 to 2 years of retail work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.
- Ability to supervise and train for the use of equipment, tools, and materials listed in the Customer Service Representative (CSR), Lead CSR (LSR), and Store Assistant (SA) job descriptions.
- Ability to supervise and manage the functions listed in the CSR, LSR, and SA job descriptions.
- Ability to use a computer and acquire necessary computer skills for the store.
- Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
- Open availability.
- Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) in English.
- Ability to perform essential duties and physical functions described above.
- Ability to work in the conditions described below.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Certificates and licenses: Food Server certificate (e.g. ServSafe) and Food Safety Management certification may be required.
Physical Requirements
- Work a minimum of 50 hours per week.
- Exposed to cold or warm temperature extremes, occasional work in a walk-in cooler and/or freezer, and outdoors.
- Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead.
- Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist.
- Grasp, reach, and manipulate objects with hands for entire shift.
- Reach overhead for objects.
- Bend and twist at waist.
- Communicate orally.
- Operate a cash register and/or computer keyboard.
- Stand and/or walk for an entire shift.
- May require climbing a ladder to store and retrieve materials or place and remove signs.
Work Environment
- Work requires 50 hours per week and can include hours on all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Approximately 95% of all work is performed indoors, but may involve cleaning parking lots, gas pumps, taking out garbage, etc.
- Exposure to extreme cold temperatures while working in a walk-in cooler and/or freezer.
- Exposure to occasional noise.
