Part-time, non-exempt union position reporting to the Museum Store Manager. Minimum pay rate: $15.61/hour.

About the Role

Assist customers, conduct sales transactions, display merchandise, and help maintain the store and its auxiliary areas.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a computerized cash register and calculator (previous experience preferred).
  • Greet and approach customers, discuss merchandise, and conduct transactions in a pleasant, professional manner with a neat appearance.
  • Conduct and complete computerized register transactions, including sales, returns, gift certificates, and interdepartmental transfers.
  • Wrap and package purchases.
  • Provide information about merchandise and artist/manufacturer using product knowledge and available resources.
  • Open and/or close the store, reconcile the register and receipts.
  • Assist with light cleaning: dusting, sweeping, and organizing merchandise.
  • Provide customers with information about museum events.
  • Restock and merchandise products on the sales floor.
  • Assist with organization and maintenance of storage areas.
  • Support staff with special projects such as inventory, special orders, clearance sales, exhibit store setup, receiving projects, and museum events.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum retail experience.
  • Experience in retail sales, customer service, or related skills (preferred).
  • Knowledge of and/or interest in art.

Physical Requirements

  • Move fixtures, products, and equipment weighing up to 20 lbs without assistance.
  • Frequently move about the store.
  • Reach high and low shelves.
  • Access the customer service area.
  • Discern and distinguish price tags and product information.
  • Interact and communicate with customers and Museum staff.
  • Use computers and productivity machinery such as cash registers and calculators.

Pay

$15.61/hour (minimum rate).
