Responsibilities

  • Refill endcaps, sale areas, and busy sections of the store.
  • Scan items or enter information into the store’s inventory system when needed.
  • Remove damaged, expired, or incorrect items from the shelves.
  • Tell a supervisor when items are running low or when there is too much stock.
  • Sweep, mop, and keep aisles and work areas clean.
  • Throw away cardboard, plastic wrap, and trash during the shift.
  • Help early-morning customers find items if they ask.
  • Let supervisors know about any product problems or customer concerns.
  • Follow all safety rules when lifting, moving items, or using equipment.

Expect to be on your feet most of your shift—walking and standing on hard floors. Move carts and trolleys loaded with products, which might take some effort to get rolling. Use your hands to open boxes, handle small items, and scan products. Sometimes you’ll use ladders or step stools to reach high shelves. Work indoors in areas like stockrooms and coolers—some spots may feel warmer or cooler than others. There may be background noise from store announcements or equipment. Floors may be slippery at times, so paying attention and following safety rules is important.
