About the Role
Michael Foods, Inc. is a leader in the food processing and distribution industry, specializing in egg products, refrigerated grocery, and potato products. Our Wakefield facility is one of the largest production plants within Michael Foods, serving as a flex plant capable of producing a wide range of products, from whole pasteurized eggs to liquid, dried, hardboiled eggs, and curds.
Responsibilities
- Move finished products from the production area to the warehouse and load them onto trailers using a forklift.
- Maintain adequate rotation of product using the FIFO (First In, First Out) system.
- Learn and use the SAP (System Application Products in Data Processing) computer system.
- Maintain inventory accuracy by following proper procedures and completing all necessary paperwork accurately and on time.
- Assist Quality and other departments with sampling and testing procedures.
- Perform daily sanitation tasks.
- Prepare sample requests and send UPS, FedEx orders.
- Ensure a safe and healthy workplace by adhering to all safety policies and procedures, incorporating safety as a core value.
- Follow Quality work practices, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality is upheld; report any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
- Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Requirements
- Capable of lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Good communication skills.
- Available to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Ability to travel to multiple locations for work.
- Must always be attentive and safety-minded.
Preferred Skills
- Ability to obtain a forklift license.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Able to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Capability to perform basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Good mathematical skills.
- Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with others to complete work assignments.
- Open to change and maintains positive interpersonal relationships.
