The University of Chicago Press Distribution Center (CDC) is a state-of-the-art distribution and fulfillment operation, providing a full range of services to the University of Chicago Press and scholarly publishers worldwide. Located in the Historic Pullman District near 110th Langley, the CDC is conveniently located near the Metra and the Bishop Ford Freeway. The facility is 273,000 square feet housing nearly twelve million books in inventory, with more than nineteen thousand units shipped daily. Responsibilities

• Accurately picking orders from warehouse shelves based on customer and client requests
• Efficiently packing orders to ensure secure and safe shipping
• Preparing shipping labels and documentation for outbound shipments
• Collaborating closely with other warehouse staff to maintain an organized and efficient warehouse environment
• Conducting regular inventory checks to ensure stock levels are accurate and current
• Assisting with the receiving and unpacking of incoming shipments
• Performing other warehouse duties as assigned to support overall warehouse operations

Requirements

• High school diploma from an accredited institution or a GED certificate required
• Warehouse order fulfillment experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail required
• Excellent organizational skills required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
• Ability to perform multiple concurrent tasks
• Ability to work with limited supervision
• Familiarity or previous experience with scan guns preferred
• Ability to read and calculate simple mathematical problems required

Pay

Hourly rate: $17.73 – $18.91 per hour (University’s good faith estimate at time of posting).

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week. Non-exempt position.
