About the role

As a Stewards VISTA member, you will work alongside Appalshop's team to support community development projects in Jenkins, Kentucky. Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with community organizing initiatives
• Maintaining community gardens and supporting local food systems
• Collaborating on cultural preservation efforts
• Engaging in educational programming that promotes community engagement

Responsibilities

Your day-to-day tasks may include:

• Organizing community events and workshops
• Supporting youth leadership development programs
• Maintaining and enhancing local cultural resources
• Documenting and sharing community stories through various media platforms

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must:

• Be 18-25 years old
• Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Be able to commit to a full AmeriCorps term
• Have a strong interest in community development and cultural preservation

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

• A degree in a relevant field such as social work, education, or community development
• Experience working with diverse communities
• Strong communication and organizational skills

Skills

You should possess:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Basic computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office

Pay
