About the role

Responsible for dishwashing and other general housekeeping tasks. Maintains the Culinary Department in a sanitary, safe, and clean condition that meets hospital, Health Department and Joint Commission standards at Intermountain Health Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and sanitizes dishes
• Collects carts with patient trays from hospital floors
• Cleans and disinfects assigned areas including dining areas using department cleaning procedures
• Uses cleaning chemicals properly according to Joint Commission and OSHA standards
• Understands procedures and properly disposes of infectious waste and trash
• Operates and maintains assigned equipment (e.g., commercial dishwasher) according to established procedures

Requirements

• Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification required by first day of work
• Ability to read color‑coded labels and chemicals and follow written and verbal directions
• Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, monitors; identify equipment and supplies; assess customer needs
• Occasional customer interaction requiring clear communication and understanding of spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues
• Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment; frequent computer, phone, and cable set‑up and use
• Ability to lift, transport, pull, push equipment; work on hands and knees, bend, and handle items of varying weights up to heavy items
• Ability to remain standing for long periods
• Tolerance of temperature extremes and exposure to cleaning chemicals around dish machines

Qualifications

• One or more years of experience in food services or housekeeping preferred
• Ability to operate housekeeping equipment and dish machine preferred

Pay

Hourly rate based on experience: $17.43 – $22.29.

Schedule

PRN, on‑call or as needed; availability required Sunday‑Saturday for variable shifts. Shift assignments: 7 am or 8 am‑4:30 pm, 2 pm‑10:30 pm, 5 pm‑10 pm.
