About the role
The Steward is a part of the Banquet team and is responsible for washing dishes, pots, and other kitchen items, ensuring their cleanliness throughout the Kitchen. May be assigned heavy cleaning as part of closing the restaurant. The Steward is an important part of the efficient operation of Banquets, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and working toward the overall mission of exceeding guest expectations.
Responsibilities
- Work as a member of a dishwashing crew, ensuring soiled items are placed in proper racks or containers for the dishwashing machine.
- Inspect, remove, and properly store all clean items from the dishwashing machine.
- Wash steam kettles, tilt fryers, and food preparation equipment too large for the dishwashing machine.
- Supply dishware to food preparation stations as needed; remove soiled dishware and cooking equipment from food preparation stations.
- Keep the work area (floor, machine, shelving, carts, etc.) clean at all times.
- Perform miscellaneous duties such as polishing silver, working in the storeroom, and preparing for banquets or special events as assigned.
- Grave shift Stewards will also perform deep cleaning after hours, including buffing kitchen floors, cleaning fryers, and cleaning hoods.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to operate in a working environment subject to varying levels of cold, heat, noise, and vibration.
- Ability to work in occasional hazardous areas such as wet floors, with proper precautions taken.
- Provide your own non-slip black kitchen shoes (uniforms provided).
- Ability to effectively and efficiently move around the work area.
- Ability to stand for the majority of the shift.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and move loads of up to 100 pounds to restock items as needed.
- Ability to sort silverware as needed.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to secure and maintain a STATE OR TRIBAL Gaming License.
Qualifications
- Skills necessary for this position are typically acquired through two months of on-the-job training or related experience.
- Maintain a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance.
- Able and willing to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong guest service and problem-solving skills.
- Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to tolerate areas containing varying noise, smoke, and temperature levels.
