Sterile Processing Technician (per diem)-ASC

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for cleaning, inspecting, sterilizing, organizing, and maintaining surgical instruments and equipment to support high-quality orthopaedic surgical care.

Responsibilities

• Clean, inspect, assemble, wrap, label, and sterilize surgical instruments per established protocols and manufacturer instructions.
• Operate sterilizers, ultrasonic washers, and processing equipment; perform biological and chemical monitoring and maintain accurate logs.
• Sort and arrange instruments into trays per tray lists; label packages with item name, sterilization date, and expiration date.
• Maintain inventory levels, inspect sterile items for package integrity, and replace outdated or compromised items.
• Keep the central processing area clean, organized, and compliant with infection control and safety standards.
• Document instruments loaned to or returned from outside sources; maintain and update instrument tray inventory lists.
• Communicate professionally with physicians, clinical staff, and leadership; report safety concerns or equipment issues promptly.

Requirements

• Central Sterile Technician certification is required.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Prior sterile or central sterile processing experience is preferred.
• Ambulatory Surgery Center and orthopaedic instrument experience is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of sterile technique, sterilization processes, infection control, and instrument handling.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization; ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Professional demeanor with co-workers, physicians, patients, and visitors.

• Competitive hourly pay range: $26–$31/hour, determined based on candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience.
