Sterile Processing Technician - Full-Time - Evenings - Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center

About the role

Responsible for the sterilization and cleaning of medical equipment, instruments, and supplies. This includes cleaning and disinfecting contaminated supplies, delivering sterile supplies, maintaining inventory, and processing reusable medical devices for surgeries, examinations, and procedures. Tests and reports any issues or problems with the sterilization equipment.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning, disinfection, decontamination, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of medical and surgical instruments
• Case cart assembly and distribution
• Care and distribution of patient care equipment
• Maintaining sterile processing areas
• Demonstrating proficiency and teamwork in all areas of the Sterile Processing Department
• Following instructions to ensure quality metrics and standards are met
• Adhering to Standard Precautions, including the use of protective barriers (e.g., gloves, masks, gowns, pocket masks, and/or safety glasses)
• Performing other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods
• Ability to push, pull, and lift heavy items
• Computer literacy

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required)
• Completion of a Sterile Processing program (preferred)
• Certified Central Service Technician (CBSPD or HSPA (IAHCSMM) certification) (required)
• Prior experience (preferred)
