Sterile Processing Technician - Full Time - Days/Evenings/Nights

About the role

The Sterile Processing Technician will work at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota, rotating shifts including day, evening, and night. Weekend and holiday shifts are required.

Responsibilities

• Reprocess reusable surgical instruments and patient care equipment for use in surgery and various nursing units.
• Ensure clean, safe, and sterile instruments and equipment are available for hospital staff.
• Stand and walk for extended periods, lift and carry items of varying weights, push and pull heavy carts, maintain attention to detail, solve problems, and demonstrate reliability.

Requirements

• Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Lifting and Carrying: Frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds, occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Pushing and Pulling: Pushing and pulling heavy carts.
• Dexterity and Coordination: Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Movement: Frequent bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, twisting, and kneeling.
• Environmental Tolerances: Exposure to noise, warmth, and exposure to blood/body fluids, chemicals, and other hazards while wearing PPE.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous inspection of instruments for cleanliness and damage.
• Problem-Solving: Troubleshooting equipment issues and adapting to changing protocols.
• Reliability: Reliable and consistent attendance.

Qualifications

• Education: No formal education requirements.
• Licenses/Certifications: Tech I must be certified as a CRCST within 2 years of hire; Tech II must be certified as a CRCST or CBSPD.

Pay

• Technician I (non-certified): $18.25 - $23.98 per hour based on experience.
• Technician II (certified): $21.71 - $27.10 per hour based on experience.

Schedule

Shift rotation: Day/Eve/Night. Shift start/end times: 6:30a/7a/8a/9a/10a/11a/12p/2:30p/11:30p/3p/3:30p/4:30p/5:30p/6:30p/7:30p/8:30p/11p/7a. Hours per pay period: 80.
