About the role

The Sterile Processing Technician III decontaminates surgical instruments and equipment, inspects and assembles surgical instruments, equipment, trays, and packs. They fill surgery case carts from predetermined listings, may deliver case carts to the surgical floor, assist in recordkeeping and monitoring equipment operations, identify and report supplies, equipment, and procedure problems, and assist in the orientation and continuing training of other Technicians. They make department section decisions in the absence of a Lead.

Responsibilities

  • Affords assistance in recordkeeping and monitoring equipment operations
  • Identifies and reports supplies, equipment, and procedure problems
  • Affords assistance in the orientation and continuing training of other Technicians
  • Makes department section decisions in the absence of a Lead

Requirements

  • Completion of a formal Central Services Technician course or successfully challenged course test
  • National Certified Registered Central Service Technician - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association
  • National Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician - Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution
  • 5 years related experience with surgical instrumentation in hospital sterile processing/central service environment required

Qualifications

Required Qualification: Completion of a formal Central Services Technician course or successfully challenged course test.
Required within 1 year of hire: National Certified Registered Central Service Technician - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association.
Required within 1 year of hire: National Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician - Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution.
5 years related experience with surgical instrumentation in hospital sterile processing/central service environment required.

Pay

The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
