Sterile Processing Technician

Role Overview

The Sterile Processing Technician supports surgical teams by preparing, cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining surgical instruments and supplies. They operate sterilization equipment, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with sterilization processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver medical and surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment for procedures.
• Clean, package, and process surgical instruments, maintaining accurate inventory and storage.
• Operate and troubleshoot sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners.
• Utilize multiple computer applications for sterilization tracking and processes.
• Assist in maintaining a sterile environment supporting the operating room team.

Qualifications & Skills

• Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) CRCST certification within 18 months of hire.
• Preferably two years of experience in sterilization or related roles, or vocational training as a Central Service Technician or Patient Care Assistant.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to adapt to unpredictable perioperative situations.
• Strong communication skills, patient-centered approach, and ability to handle physical demands including lifting.

Schedule

• Full-time, nonexempt role with benefits
• Monday through Friday evening rotation
• Occasional weekend or holiday call
• Travel to nearby locations may be required

Pay

$22.73 to $32.26 per hour.
