About the Role
As a Sterile Processing Technician, you play a crucial role in ensuring that all equipment required for medical procedures is properly sterilized after each use. You will be charged with meticulously cleaning surgical tools, organizing equipment, and equipping staff with the knowledge necessary for optimal patient outcomes during their procedures. You will handle intercom calls in a professional, courteous manner and work with a team to ensure tasks are completed. Your role involves adhering to sterile processing best practices to uphold the quality of patient care throughout their surgery.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sterilize surgical tools and equipment after each use.
- Organize and prepare equipment for medical procedures.
- Educate staff on proper equipment handling for optimal patient outcomes.
- Handle intercom calls professionally and courteously.
- Collaborate with the team to complete tasks efficiently.
- Adhere to sterile processing best practices to maintain high-quality patient care.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician in a similar role or surgery center setting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Capability to work on your feet for a minimum of 6 hours out of an 8-hour day.
- Strong problem-solving skills and proactive approach to conflict resolution.
- Proficiency in basic math calculations and following verbal and written instructions.
- Computer and typing proficiency.
- Adaptability to adjust schedule to ensure department work is completed.
