About the role
The Sterile Processing Technician will work at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota, rotating shifts between day, evening, and night.
Responsibilities
- Reprocess reusable surgical instruments and patient care equipment for use in surgery and various nursing units.
- Ensure clean, safe, sterile instruments and equipment are available for hospital staff.
Requirements
- Standing and Walking: Extended periods of standing and walking.
- Lifting and Carrying: Frequently lift and carry items up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Pushing and Pulling: Push and pull heavy carts weighing hundreds of pounds.
- Dexterity and Coordination: Essential for handling and assembling delicate surgical instruments and equipment.
- Movement: Frequent bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, twisting, and kneeling.
- Environmental Tolerances: Work in a noisy, warm environment with exposure to blood/body fluids, chemicals, and other hazards.
- Attention to Detail: Inspect instruments for cleanliness and damage.
- Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot equipment issues and adapt to changing protocols.
- Reliability: Maintain reliable and consistent attendance.
Qualifications
- Education: No formal education requirements.
- Licenses/Certifications: Tech I must be certified as a CRCST within 2 years of hire; Tech II must be certified as a CRCST or CBSPD.

Compensation range: $18.25 - $23.98 / hour.
