About the role

The Sterile Processing Technician is a health care professional responsible for preparing, assembling, cleaning, and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment used in various clinical procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting agents.
  • Assemble trays and peel packs, ensuring correct identification and labeling.
  • Perform steam and Sterrad sterilization methods safely.
  • Follow MIFU and safety protocols for decontamination.
  • Work collaboratively within a team, adapting to changes.
  • Conduct biological testing and instrument/set identification.
  • Operate relevant equipment and maintain accurate records.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Restock supplies and ensure inventory par levels are met.
  • Report and address issues promptly to supervisors.

Requirements

  • Experience in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Preferred experience in surgery environments.
  • Preferred sterile processing experience.
  • Preferred certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician - HSPA.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a formal training program in sterile processing.
  • Knowledge of sterilization processes and equipment.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and handle hazardous materials.

  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Physical stamina for lifting and moving heavy objects.
