About the role
The Sterile Processing Technician is a health care professional responsible for preparing, assembling, cleaning, and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment used in various clinical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting agents.
- Assemble trays and peel packs, ensuring correct identification and labeling.
- Perform steam and Sterrad sterilization methods safely.
- Follow MIFU and safety protocols for decontamination.
- Work collaboratively within a team, adapting to changes.
- Conduct biological testing and instrument/set identification.
- Operate relevant equipment and maintain accurate records.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Restock supplies and ensure inventory par levels are met.
- Report and address issues promptly to supervisors.
Requirements
- Experience in an acute care hospital setting.
- Preferred experience in surgery environments.
- Preferred sterile processing experience.
- Preferred certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician - HSPA.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a formal training program in sterile processing.
- Knowledge of sterilization processes and equipment.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and handle hazardous materials.

- Physical stamina for lifting and moving heavy objects.
