About the role
The Sterile Processing Technician is a health care professional responsible for preparing, assembling, cleaning, and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment used in various clinical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting agents.
- Assemble trays and peel packs, ensuring correct identification of contents and following MIFU instructions.
- Perform steam and Sterrad sterilization methods.
- Follow decontamination practices and safety protocols.
- Work as part of a team, demonstrating adaptability and self-motivation.
- Conduct biological testing and instrument/set identification.
- Operate relevant equipment and maintain accurate records.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Restock supplies and ensure inventory par levels are met.
- Report and address equipment or process issues promptly.
Requirements
- Experience in an acute care hospital setting.
- Preferred experience in a surgery environment.
- Preferred sterile processing experience.
- Preferred certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician - HSPA.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a sterile processing technician program preferred.
- Knowledge of sterilization processes and safety protocols.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and operate equipment.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
