Sterile Processing Tech
About the Role
The Sterile Processing Department is a fast-paced work environment. Technicians will assemble case carts according to surgery schedules, including sterile instrumentation for patient procedures. When completed, technicians will transport case carts to the OR and place them in designated areas. Depending on the hire site in Grand Rapids, Sterile Processing Departments can anticipate 40-90 surgical cases. Team members can expect to wear surgical attire in the department.
Orientation/Training
New team members are required to complete a Sterile Processing educational training course as part of a 90-day orientation. The first 6 weeks of this course are mandatory 1st shift (0700-1530, Monday-Friday). Once the course is completed, the team member will transition to their hired shift times for the remainder of orientation. Techs will attend an SPD 101 class where educators teach department standards and regulations, and will also work with a preceptor during orientation.
