Essential Functions of the Role
Preparing and Arranging Rooms:
- Cleaning rooms, organizing instruments, equipment, treatment trays, and supplies based on department needs.
Cleaning Instruments and Equipment:
- Cleaning instruments and equipment using approved detergents and disinfectants.
Operating Sterilization Equipment:
- Operating sterilization equipment according to guidelines.
Handling Inventory:
- Efficiently handling inventory by ordering, replenishing, and distributing instruments, reusable medical equipment, and supplies for general and surgical use.
Safety, Environmental, and Infection Control:
- Following strict safety, environmental, and infection control rules to uphold patient care and office standards.
Mentoring:
- Sharing skills with your team. Offering in-service training sessions.
- Aiding in training Sterile Processing staff.
- Mentoring entry-level positions.
Key Success Factors
- Familiarity with equipment and instrument sterilization techniques and procedures.
- Understanding of simple medical terminology.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, demonstrating tact when dealing with patients and colleagues.
- Adherence to best practice safety measures, environmental protocols, manufacturers' guidelines, and infection control practices.
