Essential Functions of the Role

Preparing and Arranging Rooms:

• Cleaning rooms, organizing instruments, equipment, treatment trays, and supplies based on department needs.

Cleaning Instruments and Equipment:

• Cleaning instruments and equipment using approved detergents and disinfectants.

Operating Sterilization Equipment:

• Operating sterilization equipment according to guidelines.

Handling Inventory:

• Efficiently handling inventory by ordering, replenishing, and distributing instruments, reusable medical equipment, and supplies for general and surgical use.

Safety, Environmental, and Infection Control:

• Following strict safety, environmental, and infection control rules to uphold patient care and office standards.

Mentoring:

• Sharing skills with your team. Offering in-service training sessions.
• Aiding in training Sterile Processing staff.
• Mentoring entry-level positions.

Key Success Factors

• Familiarity with equipment and instrument sterilization techniques and procedures.
• Understanding of simple medical terminology.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, demonstrating tact when dealing with patients and colleagues.
• Adherence to best practice safety measures, environmental protocols, manufacturers' guidelines, and infection control practices.
