Sterile Equipment Technician

About the role

The University of Florida, College of Dentistry is searching for a Sterile Equipment Technician. This position is responsible for cleaning dental instruments and the preparation of them for sterilization.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain a variety of sterilization equipment
• Dispense clean instruments to dental students and departments, using computer program Axium and the INFO-DOT process
• Collect, track, and process dirty instruments according to sterilization protocol
• Disinfect and sterilize dental instruments for all UFCD dental students and the UFCD dental clinics
• Replace broken or missing instruments for UFCD Dental Students
• Record incoming and outgoing instruments from students and departments
• Oil and maintain instruments and hand pieces
• Maintain machines and report needs for repairs (as needed)
• Maintain office supplies inventory
• Label and scan with the Axium program
• Participate in in-service training (updates, new sterilization techniques, and computer classes)
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred qualifications

• Dental Assistant certification or equivalent training
• Ability to prepare, sterilize, and maintain dental instruments and equipment
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to plan, organize, and perform work assignments
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
• Ability to pay attention to detail

Pay

$16.00 - $17.00 per hour; commensurate with education and experience
