About the role
The University of Florida, College of Dentistry is searching for a Sterile Equipment Technician. This position is responsible for cleaning dental instruments and the preparation of them for sterilization.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain a variety of sterilization equipment
- Dispense clean instruments to dental students and departments, using computer program Axium and the INFO-DOT process
- Collect, track, and process dirty instruments according to sterilization protocol
- Disinfect and sterilize dental instruments for all UFCD dental students and the UFCD dental clinics
- Replace broken or missing instruments for UFCD Dental Students
- Record incoming and outgoing instruments from students and departments
- Oil and maintain instruments and hand pieces
- Maintain machines and report needs for repairs (as needed)
- Maintain office supplies inventory
- Label and scan with the Axium program
- Participate in in-service training (updates, new sterilization techniques, and computer classes)
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred qualifications
- Dental Assistant certification or equivalent training
- Ability to prepare, sterilize, and maintain dental instruments and equipment
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to plan, organize, and perform work assignments
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Ability to pay attention to detail
Pay
$16.00 - $17.00 per hour; commensurate with education and experience
