Steel Rule Die Maker - Printing Industry

K & W Finishing, Inc., a print-finishing (bindery) company located in Baltimore, Maryland, is seeking an experienced Steel Rule Die Maker to join its team. Successful candidates will interpret die lines and create steel rule dies with accuracy and precision for die-cutting paper products.

Responsibilities

• Interpret die lines and create steel rule dies (metal rule pounded into wood pre-cut on a Gerber table)
• Make decisions on the best way to produce a quality finished piece
• Maintain the quality customers expect
• Communicate job requirements effectively to others
• Work in an environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts of equipment, tools, or machinery

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• 5 years experience in steel rule die making
• Strong understanding of die-cutting processes, materials, and tolerances
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read, interpret, and understand instructions, and communicate in English
• Familiarity with CAD programs, Gerber’s, and automatic benders (a plus)
• Understanding of rubbering requirements
• Prior experience in the printing industry (preferred but not required)
• Team player with the ability to work well with others
• Able to take constructive criticism

Schedule

• Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (day shift)
• Overtime as available/necessary
