Qualifications
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is required.
- 5+ years’ experience leading a quality control function involving welding in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication, blueprints, shop drawings, and NDT methods.
- NACE or SSPC Level I paint certification (or the ability to obtain it within six months of hire).
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.

- Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing techniques.
- Strong computer skills.
- Excellent negotiation and time-management abilities.
Responsibilities
- Department Leadership: Manage the overall quality function and supervise a team of QC Inspectors, providing training, performance appraisals, and technical guidance.
- Certification Oversight: Administer the AISC program and manage the welder certification program (PQRs and WPSs) to ensure full compliance with owner and industry requirements.
- Inspetion Management: Oversee all internal and outsourced non-destructive testing (NDT), including Magnetic Particle and Ultrasonic testing, and perform direct inspections of welds, dimensions, and coatings.
- Liaison & Collaboration: Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory representatives and customer engineers, scheduling inspections and resolving technical concerns professionally.
- Process Documentation: Maintain the Quality Control Manual and ensure accurate project documentation and hold-point logs are filed in a timely manner.
- Strategic Planning: Participate as a member of the Plant Leadership Team to align quality standards with production schedules and continuous improvement goals.
