Steel Fabrication Quality Inspector
Location: Richmond, VA • Contract-to-Hire • 1st Shift
Starting Pay: $31/hour, with higher pay available based on experience
About the role
Seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to support structural steel fabrication and ensure completed work meets applicable drawings, specifications, and quality standards. Experienced senior structural steel fitters/fabricators with strong quality experience may also be considered.
Responsibilities
- Inspect structural steel throughout the fabrication process and at completion
- Verify materials, dimensions, layout, and part placement against shop drawings and specifications
- Identify and document nonconforming work in accordance with AWS D1.1/D1.5
- Perform in-process and final quality inspections
- Work closely with production personnel to investigate and correct quality issues
- Support quality improvement activities and process improvements
- Assist with annual AISC quality control audits
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in structural steel layout and fabrication
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication and construction drawings
- Solid knowledge of structural steel fabrication practices and quality standards
- Welding certification in AWS D1.1 and/or D1.5 preferred
- Experienced senior-level structural steel fitters/fabricators may be considered
