Key Responsibilities
- Perform quality control inspections on layouts, assemblies, welds, painting, decking, and installations
- Verify all work complies with AISC and AWS standards and approved engineering drawings
- Ensure teams are working from the most current drawings, specifications, and revisions
- Take photo documentation and store records electronically in designated project folders
- Identify, document, and report defects, missing components, or deviations from drawings
- Work closely with department leads to resolve issues while maintaining production schedules
- Support and reinforce a culture of safety, quality, and accountability throughout the shop and yard
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent required
- 5+ years of experience in structural steel fabrication, including fabrication, decking, welding, painting, or processing
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, shop drawings, and welding symbols
- Prior experience in quality control or inspection within a steel fabrication environment preferred
- Forklift experience required
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to consistently identify defects or nonconformance
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and moving equipment
- Frequent standing, bending, stooping, crouching, and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work safely in both shop and field environments
- PPE required and provided
Role Details
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. EST (some weekends as needed)
- Overtime: Available as required
- Employment Type: Full-time, Exempt
- Benefits: Eligible after 60 days (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, PTO, and paid holidays)
