AME Engineering is seeking a highly motivated Steel Detailer, preferably with previous experience using Tekla Structures or SDS/2, to join our team based in our Dallas office. The Steel Detailer will create 3D models and develop fabrication-level information in support of a wide range of construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Accurately interpret construction documents
- Develop fabrication-level information early in the design process based on feedback and coordination with internal engineering and construction team members
- Coordinate models from various trades (HVAC, MEP, etc.) for clash detection and coordination
- Create 3D models utilizing Tekla from early design information and construction documents
- Prepare and modify shop drawings including erection, assembly, and part drawings for fabrication using Tekla 3D modeling software
- Manipulate existing models and drawings as needed
- Check models through in-model review and report creation
- Pursue continuing education through a combination of in-house and company-funded external training
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in computer-aided drafting or related field
- 1–3 years of steel detailing experience in commercial, industrial, manufacturing, and similar project types
- Knowledge of 3D modeling software, such as Tekla Structures or SDS/2
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter with the ability to start and finish a project on time
- Ability to organize, plan, and manage multiple activities to accomplish desired results
Skills
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software (Tekla, SDS/2, or similar)
- Proficiency using Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Programming experience (e.g., Visual Studio or Python) and API experience are a plus
