Essential Functions
- Repairs and maintains pneumatic thermostat and controls.
- Removes, repairs and reinstalls pumps.
- Stops and repairs leaks as they occur.
- Maintains and replaces all system pipes and valves as needed.
- Completes reactive and preventative maintenance paperwork.
- Affords assistance in emergencies as needed.
- Works according to the schedule prepared by the supervisor.
- Returns all work areas to a clean, neat, orderly and safe condition.
- Learns, understands and complies with fire, safety, and other emergency practices.
- Participates in training directed at increasing maintenance and other job-related skills.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, equipment, and techniques of the trade.
- Ability to keep records of activities performed.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and drawings.
- Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
- Ability to locate, diagnose, and correct defects and malfunctions on a variety of heat system equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Skill in the use and care of tools, equipment and materials of the trade.
Education And Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent, including or supplemented by technical courses relating to the trade.
- Minimum of two years of experience as a skilled heat system mechanic.
