About the role
The Steam Fitter installs, assembles, repairs, and maintains piping systems that carry high-pressure gases, liquids, and steam at our customer site in Beltsville, MD.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate and assemble piping systems using brazing, soldering, threading, and welding.
- Install and repair heavy mechanical components such as boilers, valves, pumps, compressors, and regulators.
- Analyze technical drawings and schematics to plan layouts, determine material costs, and build to exact engineering specifications.
- Conduct pressure and leak testing on pipes to ensure they withstand high-stress environments and meet safety codes.
- Perform other steam-fitter-related duties as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of Steam Fitting experience within a government facility.
- Expertise in steam fitting and maintenance of steam systems.
- Proficiency in joining metals (especially steel and copper) and using trade tools like saws, benders, and threaders.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to make precise measurements and calculations.
- Ability to lift heavy pipes, climb ladders, and work in tight, hot, or uncomfortable environments.
- Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Must pass a government background check.
