Stationary Engineer Technician (Relief)-Montgomery County
Maintains and operates
- Stationary steam boilers, pumps and related equipment such as water softeners, air compressors, water treatment systems and associated piping, chillers, tower and auxiliary systems.
- Performs daily chemical water treatment of the boilers to insure proper running of equipment.
- Abides by and enforces all safety rules and regulations, State and local in order to keep boiler house safe.
- Keeps the boiler house and immediate surrounding area clean and up to Jefferson's facilities standards.
Supports Facilities Department
- Occasionally required to perform general mechanical and minor electrical/HVAC work in support of the Facilities department and local building needs.
Operates and Maintains
- Operates and maintains boilers as well as chiller and auxiliary systems by reading meters/pressure gauges and taking necessary appropriate action to ensure safe operation.
- Repacks valves, changes piping, and lubricates compressors, pumps and related parts on a regular basis.
- Starts, stops, adjusts and regulates boilers and associated equipment as necessary to insure efficiency and continuity of service.
Cleaning and Inspection
- Cleans boilers, waterside and fire side, annually or as required, to meet code and regulation requirements.
- Maintains record of gages and meter readings to determine fuel and steam consumption, steam produced, hot water and chilled/condensed water temperature, chiller operating pressure, etc.
- Performs daily inspection of boilers, pipelines, and operating equipment for steam, water, air and fuel leaks or defective parts.
Communications and Reporting
- Consults with and keeps Lead/Chief Stationary Engineers apprised of activities, needs and issues as they arise.
Other Maintenance Needs
- Performs other maintenance needs as required and directed by the supervisor or lead technician.
