About the role
The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD (“The HARRIS CENTER”) is looking for a certified Pharmacy Technician PRN to embark on a rewarding healthcare career!
Reporting directly to our dedicated Pharmacist-in-Charge, you will be an integral part of our dynamic team, providing essential services in the preparation of consumer prescriptions. This vital role adheres strictly to the rules and regulations set forth by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, ensuring the highest standard of service for our valued patients.
Responsibilities
- Preparing prescriptions.
- Pre-packing of supplies, generating reports, & maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
- Conducts monthly unit inspections where medications are dispensed, stored, and administered.
- Identifies and retrieves outdated supplies.
- Orders pharmaceuticals and supplies in a manner that optimizes cost and contract compliance.
- Compliant with agency educational and licensure requirements.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 2 years of related experience working in a pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician and 1 year of experience doing independent pharmacy assistance program (PAP) functions.
- Must have some hospital pharmacy exposure.
- 2 years of retail pharmacy experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Valid Texas Driver’s License required.
- Current Certified Pharmacy Technician License through the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.

- Well-developed interpersonal, organizational skills, be a team player with a desire to provide quality work.
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer literate and able to use software effectively.
- Strong communication skills with ability to effectively converse and listen to others and construct clear and concise written communication.
- Able to identify and offer solutions to resolve problems, using knowledge of the organization to identify helpful resources.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
Other Requirements
- The person must act consistent with all legal requirements relating to pharmacy technician practice, including Federal, State, and local laws and regulations.
- Refrain from any behavior that violates legal or professional ethical standards, including all criminal laws, Federal laws and agency regulations, and State laws and regulatory agency rules.
- Refrain from conduct that is threatening, intimidating, harassing, or deceptive when acting within a professional role.
- Maintain good standing with all applicable governmental or quasi-governmental agencies governing pharmacy technician practice.
