About the role

The O&M Stationary Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the O&M building site by investigating and resolving complex problems related to cooling, heating, and pressure flow. This role models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes results from testing and treatment of all mechanical and generating equipment.
  • Repairs, adjusts, calibrates electrical and electronic control systems, electrical power distribution equipment, computer systems, pneumatic, hydraulic, refrigeration and steam systems.
  • Determines appropriate action to be taken for diagnoses of trouble calls.
  • Updates procedures to reflect changes in codes and regulations.

Requirements

  • Required - High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Required - Operational/maintenance high-pressure steam plant environment 5-7 years.
  • Required - First-Class Refrigeration Engineer - Shelby County.
  • Required - Class D Driver License - Tennessee.
  • Required - First-Class Steam Operating Engineer - Shelby County.

Qualifications

  • Licenses and Certifications:
    • First-Class Refrigeration Engineer - Shelby County.
    • Class D Driver License - Tennessee.
    • First-Class Steam Operating Engineer - Shelby County.
    • EPA Universal Certification - Environmental Protection Agency.
    • First Class Proficiency Contractors License - Shelby County.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Must be able to pass a DOT background check based on work facility.
    • High degree of skill and proficiency in all areas of general physical plant engineering operations and maintenance.
    • Knowledgeable of system operations, including emergency procedures.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment.
    • Ability to organize and maintain control of work-flow.

Skills

  • Electrical, electronics, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, computerized monitoring and control systems.
  • Emergency procedures.
