About the role
A skilled, responsible position in the Engineering Department requiring a thorough understanding of Steam Boiler, Chiller, and HVAC plant equipment design and operating principles. The Stationary Engineer performs preventive, corrective, and general maintenance and repairs with minimal supervision, takes immediate action to resolve emergency situations or system breakdowns, and conducts routine and preventive maintenance. This role also monitors, tunes, and troubleshoots utility consumption and distributed HVAC equipment to ensure proper facility space conditioning. Accuracy is essential. Occasionally supervises or directs other employees. Additional or varied duties may be required based on business needs.
Schedule
Two positions available: various days, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM or 4:00 PM–12:00 AM.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, corrective, and general maintenance and repairs on HVAC, steam boiler, and chiller systems.
- Respond to and resolve emergency situations or system breakdowns.
- Monitor, tune, and troubleshoot utility consumption (steam, chilled water) and distributed HVAC equipment.
- Ensure proper conditioning of facility spaces.
- Occasionally supervise or provide work direction to other employees.
- Operate and maintain fire alarm system panel controls and building automation system (BAS) controls and programming.
- Perform boiler and chiller room operations, including high-pressure steam operations and heat transfer systems.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current Class A Engineer’s license.
- CFC Universal Certificate.
- 3 years’ experience installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
- 3 years’ experience with fire alarm system panel controls.
- 3 years’ experience with building automation system (BAS) controls and programming.
- 2 years of boiler and chiller room operations experience.
- Knowledge of high-pressure steam operations and heat transfer.
