Job Duties
- Ensures steam boilers are running at peak efficiencies, including annual maintenance tear downs.
- Maintains peak efficiency of the Chilled Water Refrigeration System.
- Conducts routine rounds to inspect auxiliary pumps and equipment in the Central Plant and associated buildings.
- Maintains climate controls of critical spaces, including monitoring the Pan Alarm System.
- Performs chemical analysis of Steam, Chilled Water, and Cooling Tower Systems each shift.
- Maintains Central Plant and ensures it is neat and clean, responding to after-hours emergencies.
- Monitors meters and gauges to verify operating conditions.
- Inspects equipment to detect malfunctions and perform necessary repairs, adjustments, or lubrication.
- Reports any unsafe operating conditions to supervisors.
- Performs preventive maintenance on various equipment to ensure peak efficiencies.
- Performs small carpentry, plumbing, or electrical maintenance work as requested by departments.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED with additional technical training.
- Four years of relevant experience.
- First Grade Stationary Engineers license from the City of Houston.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with steam boilers and chill water systems.
