Job Summary

Heywood Healthcare is seeking an experienced Boiler Operator to join our team in Gardner, MA. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience working with boilers and steam generating equipment, and must possess a Second Class Fireman’s License or higher.

Essential Functions

• Conducts interactions with everyone in a friendly, courteous, and respectful manner.

• Completes 100% of corrective and preventive work orders daily and monthly.
• Reviews logs and equipment for annual maintenance and vendor tests.
• Removes or arranges for removal of safety hazards immediately to prevent potential risks.
• Maintains proper operation of boiler plant equipment and ensures compliance with OSHA requirements.
• Performs routine painting on piping to meet OSHA color coding requirements.
• Completes 100% of daily reports for supervisor.
• Responds appropriately to utility failures.

Physical Requirements

• Exerts 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Frequently reaches, handles, and identifies and distinguishes colors.
• Occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, and kneels.
