STATEWIDE MENTAL HEALTH DIRECTOR
Responsibilities
- Maintains regular communication with the Corporate Deputy Chief of Behavioral Health.
- Provides administrative guidance and support to the Regional Mental Health Directors.
- Ensures that mental health and psychiatric staff effectively collaborate on patient care.
- Oversees the quality and effectiveness of mental healthcare delivery to the patient population.
- Conducts periodic audits of the quality of mental healthcare and documents the same according to contract or VitalCore requirements.
- Maintains regular communication with the Associate Statewide Mental Health Director.
- Conducts on-site visits with mental health teams assessing overall service delivery.
- Guides team in process improvement at least annually.
- Reviews results of all VitalCore QAPI and Clinical Programs surveys with regard to mental health services.
- Fosters positive relationships with the facilities’ leadership.
- Coordinates and participates, where indicated, in annual peer review of licensed mental health staff.
- Provides timely feedback, and if appropriate, coordinates 2nd opinion consultation when required.
- Makes sure outcomes under evidence-based clinical guidelines are monitored.
- Develops strategic plans in collaboration with Regional Managers.
- Fosters a professional environment and supports seamless delivery of services by the site mental health professionals and medical via the Health Service Administrators.
- Maintains availability for any ACA/NCCHC accreditation or DOJ visits for all facilities.
- Participates in mortality, morbidity, and sentinel event review as required by VitalCore policy or as requested by management.
- Ensures participation of facility level mental health leadership in the Care Management daily meetings.
- Participates in committees as assigned.
- Develops onboarding and training materials for mental health processes and workflows.
- Assists with clinical onboarding and training of Regional Mental Health Directors, and site mental health professionals as needed.
- Demonstrates proficiency in all company software required for the position.
- Oversees the development and delivery of a robust mental health training series to clinical staff.
- Consults with Vice President of Operations and HR on HR related issues.
Requirements
- Must have a doctoral level degree (i.e. PhD or PsyD) in psychology, social work, mental health counseling, or a related field.
- Must be a licensed Licensed Psychologist in the state of Kansas.
- Supervisory and correctional experience preferred.
