About the role
Dream Nashville is looking for bartenders who are excited, qualified, hard-working individuals with a passion for hospitality and a commitment to superior guest service. Experience with Micros, high-volume environments, and/or extensive cocktail training are beneficial but not required. The Bartender creates and serves beverages to customer specifications in a fast-paced environment, requiring excellent guest relations, communication skills, and the ability to work a flexible schedule.
Responsibilities
- Knows all drink recipes, wines by the glass, and menu and prices to effectively promote to guests.
- Performs duties in accordance with established company policies for drink size, recipe, and proper glassware.
- Adheres to all company safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
- Handles cash transactions in accordance with the property’s cash handling policy.
- Maintains current knowledge of hotel culture, amenities, services, local events, points of interest, and area services.
- Performs complete bar setup, including ice, garnish, glassware, etc.
- Works as part of a team and portrays a positive, professional attitude.
- Provides prompt, professional, friendly, and personalized service to guests.
- Communicates with front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) support staff, including managers and chefs.
- Learns from and teaches fellow colleagues (learn by listening, lead by example).
- Performs opening side work and sets up station.
- Attends and participates in training sessions and department meetings.
- Greets guests warmly and genuinely, always with a smile.
- Provides professional and exceptional food and beverage service.
- Records and places proper food and beverage orders in the POS system.
- Delivers food and beverages to guests and anticipates their needs.
- Responds to guests’ questions and addresses their needs.
- Properly serves wine and alcohol with awareness of responsible service.
- Presents and reconciles guest checks.
- Collects cash from guests, performs credit card authorizations, and processes transactions.
- Properly executes closing procedures, including running POS daily server financial reports and completing closing financial paperwork.
- Completes closing side work for specific table sections and restocks the bar.
- Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of beverage knowledge.
- Previous hospitality experience preferred.
- Experience in a high-volume restaurant is required.
- Knowledge, skill, and mental ability equivalent to completion of 2 years of high school.
- Working knowledge of beer, wine, liquor, and common drink recipes.
- Basic math skills and ability to handle money and operate a cash register or POS system.
- Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit as required by local or state government agency.
- Food service and/or other certification as required by franchise.
