Roles and Responsibilities
- Planning and executing Statewide training opportunities and technical assistance for subrecipient agencies funded by the Rural Transit Assistance Program (RTAP).
- Organizing, scheduling, promoting, and approving invoices.
- Organize and participate in the Statewide New Jersey Community Transportation Training Program committee and assist the Manager with coordinating activities.
- Develop and maintain a resource library of training materials and best practices to support community transit agencies across New Jersey.
- Stay current with industry trends, federal grant programs and innovations to provide up-to-date information to the Community Transportation team and Subrecipients.
- Work with the eight Transportation Management Associations (TMAs) on their monthly activities including promoting NJ TRANSIT services on a local level and special promotions as they arise.
- Project manager for Statewide Travel Training, research projects, and other statewide initiatives.
- Manage project activities, timeline and budget.
- Administer Statewide bike shelter program including working with the vendor(s) and addressing issues as they arise.
- Collaborate with the States Transportation Management Associations (TMAs) on bike locker programs including administration, coordination, and minor locker maintenance at train stations.
- Administer the vanpool program including reviewing and approving monthly invoices from the vanpool vehicle providers and oversight of ridership reporting in S-RIDES database system.
- Sample vanpool ridership counts on a monthly basis for NTD reporting. Submit annual vanpool NTD documents.
- Coordinate with NJ TRANSIT’s Compliance department and subrecipients with annual 5311 NTD reporting.
- Administer the intercity bus program, including statewide intercity study and the consultation process.
Education, Experience and Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree in Planning, Public Administration or related area, or equivalent.
- Experience with transportation planning, grant management, program administration, public administration and/or community relations experience.
- Valid NJ Driver’s License required.
- Preferred: Community transportation experience desired.
Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent verbal, writing skills and computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, TEAMS and Outlook).
- Knowledge of demand response, community, and human services transportation is critical.
- Preferred: Experience with federal and state regulations related to funding and regulatory requirements.
