Responsibilities
- Oversee booth operations and team members during the State Fair, August 27 - September 7, including setup, daily management, and teardown.
- Support staff with merchandise sales, customer engagement, subscription sign-ups, and maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient booth environment.
- Attend training & orientation sessions on August 18 and August 20.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated customer service skills with a passion for engaging with Minnesota Star Tribune readers, subscribers, and fair attendees.
- Strong leadership abilities with experience guiding and supporting a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently, make sound decisions, and effectively manage booth operations.
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic event setting.
- Available to work a minimum of 8 days during the 12-day Minnesota State Fair, including weekends.
- Available to work shifts ranging from 8:15 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
- Able to stand and work in a sales booth for extended periods, up to 6 hours per day.
- Able to lift and move newspaper bundles and merchandise weighing 20–40 pounds.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status, 0-1, TM, CPT, OPT, etc.).
Pay
The hourly compensation for this position is $20.00/hour.
Schedule
Shift times for this position are between 8:15 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Day and evening shifts available.
